"Whoever is hungry, let them come and eat..."
    The Passover Haggadah

  • Dear Friends,

One of the most beloved moments of the Seder is when we open the door for Elijah the Prophet and welcome him into our homes. We prepare a special cup for him, the Kos Shel Eliyahu, and we reflect on the hope, faith, and redemption that Elijah represents.

This year, rather than simply waiting for Elijah, let us strive to be Elijah for others. Elijah is associated with bringing hope, delivering good news, and appearing in a moment of need. In that spirit, we have the opportunity to bring relief and dignity to local families who are struggling to prepare for Passover.

This Passover, let us all be Elijah.

In the days leading up to the holiday, we become aware of individuals and families who cannot afford the basics for Passover. This may include large families, single-parent households, seniors, and others quietly carrying the burden of financial hardship.

Through the Elijah Fund, the Chabad of Fremont provides Passover essentials, including food, matzah, wine, and other holiday necessities. We also open our doors to local college students, ensuring they have a warm, welcoming place to join the Seder and enjoy meaningful meals throughout the entire week of Passover, many of whom would otherwise be celebrating alone.

As the Haggadah reminds us, "Whoever is hungry, let them come and eat." No Jew should be left behind on Seder night. Your contribution helps make that possible.

We invite you to partner with us. Let us provide, let us share, let us care, let us deliver, and let us assist. In the merit of your generosity, may you and your family be blessed with a healthy, meaningful, and joyous Passover.

    Gratefully Yours,
Chabad of Fremont Jewish Community Center
